Fabric Care

Caring for your fabrics

General washing, drying and ironing guidance by fiber type, for all fabrics.

The guidance below offers general, broad recommendations for caring for your fabrics and finished garments. Always test a small swatch first. We're unable to accept claims for fabrics that have been laundered incorrectly — but we're always here to help, so reach out any time you'd like guidance on caring for a specific fabric.

Acetate

Washing: Machine wash in warm water, or hand wash in cold.

Drying: Tumble dry on low.

Ironing: Low heat, if needed.

Bamboo

Washing: Hand wash in cold water, or machine wash on a gentle cycle.

Drying: Air dry — skip the tumble dryer and dry cleaning.

Drying: Line dry, or tumble dry on low.

Ironing: Medium heat with steam, if needed.

Raw (Untreated) Denim

Washing: Wash sparingly to protect the color — hand wash or soak in cold water with a mild detergent when needed.

Drying: Hang to dry in the shade; skip the tumble dryer.

Ironing: Inside-out, low-to-medium heat with steam.

Linen/Hemp

Ironing: Medium-hot iron, always on the reverse side to avoid a shiny mark.

Nylon

Triacetate

Ironing: Cool iron if needed. Dry cleaning gives the best result.

Velvet

Washing: Skip washing by hand or machine — professional dry cleaning is recommended to protect the texture and sheen.

Drying: Lay flat. Never tumble dry.

Ironing: Avoid ironing, as it flattens the pile. Use a handheld steamer instead, or hang the piece in a steamy bathroom to release creases.

Wool

Washing: Dry cleaning is recommended, though some wools can be hand washed.
